similiarities and differences of religion Essays -

Comparison Christianity and Hinduism - What are the differences? Hinduism is a religion with many beliefs and practices, so offering a comparison of Christianity and Hinduism is challenging. It would be doing Hinduism an injustice to reduce its theology and philosophies to a scope that would be required to truly offer a comparison with Christianity. However, there are some tenets to Hinduism that are universal to all Hindus. The first difference between Hinduism and Christianity is that Hinduism embraces Christianity as a valid religion whereas the Bible does not. Hinduism is a religion that advocates tolerance. It teaches that all religions are different paths leading to one goal; all religions are different means to one end. Hinduism is not exclusive and accepts all religions as valid. Christianity, however, teaches that Christ is the only way to God. John 14:6 says, "Jesus answered, 'I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.'" Philosophically, it is impossible for religions with mutually-exclusive doctrines to be equally valid. Where we find contradiction, we must find error. Either Christ was wrong or He was right when He claimed to be the only path to God. It is simple arithmetic, not spiritual elitism. A comparison between Christianity and Hinduism reveals ancient practices which appear similar. In all ancient religions, Hinduism included, we find reparation for sins being done through sacrifices to an enraged God. In Hinduism and Judaism, this sacrifice is an animal sacrifice. Both theologies preach a divine commandment of righteousness, and failure to comply requires a penalty. This ancient instinct to make reparation for wrong doings suggests that Romans 2:14-15 is true: "Indeed, when Gentiles, who do not have the law, do by nature things required by the law. . .they show that the requirements of the law are written on their hearts, their consciences also bearing witness, and their thoughts now accusing, now even defending them." The culmination of these sacrifices for sin is found in Christianity. We have all done things we know are wrong. Both Hinduism and Christianity preach a divine commandment of perfect righteousness and that we are held accountable for our actions. The difference is that Christianity preaches the penalty for our sin has already been paid by the death of Jesus Christ on the cross. To become a Christian is to accept the ultimate sacrifice to avoid the ultimate penalty.

Flip Flops †My Favorite Shoes †Creative Writing Essay

Flip Flops – My Favorite Shoes – Creative Writing Essay Free Online Research Papers Flip Flops My Favorite Shoes Creative Writing Essay As I was picking through my shoes, I came across a pair of slightly beat up flip flops. I had unwisely bought the cute white pair, but after wearing them for three days straight in Sydney and the beach, they had turned from a bright white to a dull grayish brown. This was a disturbing thought because I had never realized how dirty my feet got in the city. They were great to walk around in beacasue they were bendy and flexible, and my feet and toes sunk into them, making me feel like I was in barefeet without walking on the scalding pavement. The bad thing about these shoes was that they gave me angry red blisters that throbbed. The plastic part of the shoe that anchored my foot to the bottom is what caused the blisters. Soon after the blisters formed, they would peel away and leave no remnant except a flake of skin that had partially come off. So, I would forget all about the pain they caused and wear them again. I repeated this cycle throughout my three week stay in Australia. By the end of my trip, my skin had toughened up and I felt nothing at all. Proudly and painlessly, I wore them on the plane trip home. . Never beforehad I taken such a long trip. I now realize that the number one priority when travleing is comfort. I discovered this soon after arriving at the Detroit Airport. If you do not like crowds of people, then the airport is not the place for you. People with luggage twice their own weight, with crying children, bored of waiting in line, people exasperated with life and with the ticket people who were constantly clattering away on their keyboards, relaying information at top speed. I became hot and sweaty in my jacket while waiting in line. My bookbag, filled with 14 hours of entertainment (hopefully), dug torturously into my shoulders. I could not take off my jacket because already I was carrying the bookbag, my purse, my e-tickets, and a small bag around my neck that held money for emergencies. If I took off my jacket, it would just be one more thing to carry. I smiled suddenly as the wafting smell of gooey cinnamon came towards me. I looked around, hopeful for a Cinnabon pl ace, my mouth already watering at the thought of the melted white icing, the warm, soft dough and sticky and sweet cinnamon. My smile quickly left and a frown took place as I saw the person behind me in line pull out the bun, and sinking his teeth joyfully in it. Oh, progress! The line had moved forward a half an inch. I was starting to feel intensly claustorphobic. Not only were all my bags pressing into me, but I was surrounded with people on all sides, chattering in multiple langueages and different pitches ranging from the extremly high voiced woman on my left to the deep voiced man two suitcases behind me who looked, frankly, like a lion. My hair was in my eyes and face, making it hard for me to breath and see. My watch seemed to restrict the movement of my wrist. Noticing the discomfort my watch was causing me, I glanced down at it. Two more hours til we departed from the metropolis of Detroit! Fast foward that scene an hour and a half. Amazingly, in a mere ninety minutes, I had progressed through the entire ticket line, the line in the airport restaurant for breakfast, and made it through the maze of escalators and moving sidewalks to securtiy. Airport security always has a specail talent for making you feel like a potential bomber, or someone who has stuck a knife down your sock, waiting for the opportune moment to attack the pilot. Pious-looking officials call you through the metal detector, and will pull you aside if you have so much as nailclippers, or, if you are like the little old lady in front of me, small scissors used for cutting thread. Or possibly, according to security, kill the flight attendents, pilot, and take control of the plane. Aside from feeling like I was going through an x-ray, I got through security with no trouble at all. Finally.the waiting room! Through the large windows, I could see the plane I was going to be a passenger on. It was a smaller plane, taking me from Michigan to Dallas, and then from Dallas to California. I waited through the P.A. annoucements that first class should board. Then more people with better tickets than I. Then finally, I was called to board. I got my bags, and headed through the suspended hallway to the planes entrance. I was greeted with a courteous smile from the attendants and wished a safe and happy trip. Two plane trips across America later, and I was on the Quantas flight, heading farther away from my home then ever before ! I was awed as I walked onto the plane. It was much larger than I had ever expected. I am sure my mouth was hanging open as I boarded. As soon as I stepped foot on the plane, I heard an important electonical buzzing sound, that continued throughout the rest of the trip. It sounded something like a very loud air conditioner. I think now it may have been the engine. The seats in economy were nice and plush, and I was given a thin, pancake like pillow and an equally thin blanket. A TV screen was on the seat ahead of me, with a selection of radio, music, movies, and Australian TV. I could also view the time, temparatue, distance from my locatation, and the remaing amount of time. After the chaotic moments of everyone trying to simaltaneously shove their too large bags into the overhead compartments, things settled down and various announcements about safety were mad e. Then, we began our trip! We cautiously wheeled out onto the take off strip, following the little men clothed in violently orange vests. The plane gathered speed, and we lifted off ! I felt slightly queesy. My ears started to pop, which was very annoying because I felt cut off from the rest of the world, like I am deaf. I can ownly partially hear other people and as a resualt I start to talk very loudly, in addition to obnoxiously popping gum and dramitcally yawning to get my ears back to normal. When we approached our steady hieght, my ears went back to normal and I realized I was insanely exhausted. I put on my headphones and drifted off into sleep. Organizations That Certify Productive Forests

Organizations That Certify Productive Forests The words sustainable forest or sustained yield comes to us from foresters of the 18th and 19th century in Europe. At the time, much of Europe was being deforested, and foresters became increasingly concerned since wood was one of the driving forces in the European economy. Wood used for heat became necessary to build homes and factories. Wood then was turned into furniture and other articles of manufacture and the forests that provided the wood were central to economic security. The idea of sustainability became popular and the idea was brought to the United States to be popularized by foresters including Fernow, Pinchot and Schenck. Modern efforts to define sustainable development and sustainable forest management have met with confusion and argument. A debate over criteria and indicators to be used to measure forest sustainability is at the heart of the issue. Any attempt to define sustainability in a sentence, or a paragraph, or even several pages can be limiting. I think you will see the complexity of the issue if you study the content and links provided here. Doug MacCleery, forest expert with the United States Forest Service, concedes that forest sustainability issues are very complicated and very much depends on agenda. MacCleery says, To define sustainability in the abstract is likely to be nigh on to impossible...before one can define it, one must ask, sustainability: for whom and for what? One of the best definitions Ive found comes from the British Columbia Forest Service - Sustainability: A state or process that can be maintained indefinitely. The principles of sustainability integrate three closely interlined elements-the environment, the economy and the social system-into a system that can be maintained in a healthy state indefinitely. Forest certification is based on the principle of sustainability and in the authority of the certificate to back up a chain of custody scheme. There have to be documented actions, demanded by each certification scheme, assuring a sustained and healthy forest in perpetuity. A worldwide leader in the certification effort is the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) who has developed widely accepted sustainable forest schemes or principles. FSC is a certification system that provides internationally recognized standard-setting, trademark assurance and accreditation services to companies, organizations, and communities interested in responsible forestry. The Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification (PEFC) has made worldwide strides in the certification of smaller non-industrial forest ownerships.PEFC promotes itself as the worlds largest forest certification system...remains the certification system of choice for small, non-industrial private forests, with hundreds of thousands of family forest owners certified to comply with our internationally recognized Sustainability Benchmark. Another forest certification organization, called Sustainable Forest Initiative (SFI), was developed by the American Forest and Paper Association (AFPA) and represents a North American industrial developed attempt to deal with forest sustainability. SFI presents an alternative approach that may be a bit more realistic for North American forests. The organization is no longer affiliated with AFPA. SFIs collection of sustainable forestry principles were developed to achieve a much broader practice of sustainable forestry throughout the United States without higher cost to the consumer. SFI suggests that sustainable forestry is a dynamic concept that will evolve with experience. New knowledge provided through research will be used in the evolution of United States industrial forestry practices. Having a Sustainable Forestry Initiative ® (SFI ®) label on wood products suggests that their forest certification process assures consumers that they are buying wood and paper products from a responsible source, backed by a rigorous, third-party certification audit.

Organisational disasters occur as a result of ineffective decision Essay

Organisational disasters occur as a result of ineffective decision making. Assess the validity of this claim with reference to at least two different organisational disasters - Essay Example The need for continuous monitoring at every level of management is especially important because more than one level of management can be involved. Organisational disasters can be explained as a breakdown caused by organisational processes or procedures. Organisational disasters can be caused by conscious organisational activities and administrative evil, normal accident and safety and risk. The rapid growth of technology and the dramatically falling cost of computing capability means that more and more aspects of managerial planning and decision making can be assisted by information technology provided, of course, that the information system is developed in accordance with properly defined objectives and principles. Thus, it does not guarantee safety and effective planning so important for modern organisations. Following Edwards and Wajcman (2005) organisational disasters occur when â€Å"things go wrong† (p. 145). The researchers add that Apart from its inherent importance, the issue of mistakes and errors is valuable for several reasons. First, it is rarely addressed in studies of organisations. Not only is it absent from many standard textbooks, but it is also not discussed in a volume aiming to lay out the key approaches to strategy, even though overcoming errors might be seen as central to strategy (p. 146). Another important element of the effective performance is decision-making process. Decision-making influences organisational performance and future growth. Among all the operations of a business, it is decision making and planning of a strategic nature which makes the greatest demands for information on the external environment. It requires ongoing monitoring for developments which would change the position of the business in relation to its market or other environments, and ad hoc research for particular purposes. Decision-making has a great impact on performance because it determines the best practices and allows a

Sapir-Whorf Hypothesis Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1500 words

Sapir-Whorf Hypothesis - Essay Example There is the sense that the speaker’s development of language determines the way they experience the world and that there are connections to the individual’s identity that foundationally links it to the speaker -- anthropologist Michael Agar compares it to a prison. An example of this version occurs in the text when the author discusses his difficulty learning the Czech time system, as it differed from English in the way parts of the hour were described: in Czech, 9:45 is described as three-quarters of 10:00. He surmises that the Czech people might be more future oriented, indicating an deep, cognitive connection between linguistic culture and the Czech experience of the unfolding world. The ‘weak’ version of the hypothesis offers a less strict connection between the individual and their use of language, but retains the direct connection between the user’s cognitive interpretation of the world and their specific language. The ‘weak’ vers ion is demonstrated in the deictic discussions of the Guugu-Yimidhirr language in northeastern Australia.

Tummy Tuck Essay Example for Free

Tummy Tuck Essay Whether you’re a male or a female Age, hormones, high protein diets and other factors can result in centralized fat in the abdomen. Abdominoplasty, also known as a â€Å"tummy tuck,† is a cosmetic procedure performed to eliminate excess skin, remove fat and fat cells from the abdomen, as well as tighten the underlying muscles in the stomach to create a firm abdomen. The removal of a large part of lower abdominal skin requires that the belly-button be surgically reconstructed as well. An unfit abdomen is due to a number of factors not only due to extra fat. Stretching of tissues and muscles in the stomach, having problems with elasticity in the skin and having excess skin can cause your abdomen to appear weak and out of shape. A Tummy Tuck can be done for a person of any age but ideal candidates are people who have lost elasticity to their skin with age and women whose pregnancies have stretched out the muscles in their abdominal wall. Women who plan on having a tummy tuck should be comfortable that they are done having children to avoid re-stretching of the muscles. Men as well can be candidates for abdominoplasty in cases of dramatic weight loss, creating loose skin. Men and Women that lack exercise or are non-responsive to exercise can build up the â€Å"spare tire† look in which they may benefit from a tummy tuck as well. When planning a tummy tuck, you must consider a few things. Like any other surgical procedure, there are risks and pre-cautions that must be taken into account. Good communication with your surgeon is key to preparing you for your surgery. Dieting, smoking, alcohol intake and other individual habits must be taken into consideration and discussed with your doctor. Time is important when considering a tummy tuck. Make sure you have planned enough time to recover and you have family or friends that may be available if you need them. All types of surgeries have risks to some measure. Some risks of having a tummy tuck include, infection, excessive bleeding, prolonged scarring (mainly due to smoking amp; 2nd hand smoke), skin loss and blood clots. (Discuss all the complications with your surgeon). A Tummy Tuck can be done for a person of any age but it is most frequently done on women who have had children and do not plan on having more. It is also regularly performed on people who have lost all of the weight they planned to lose. You must be a healthy individual with no severe medical conditions. (Set up a consultation with a surgeon to see if your health issues contradict with having this procedure). Pain, swelling (due to the removal of tissue) and bruising after your surgery can vary on the individual but those post-op effects are normal. A compression garment is given to the person to wear directly after the surgery for 4-7 weeks. A Tummy Tuck does not replace exercise and diet, those things essential to living a healthy lifestyle, but it certainly is a booster to those who want to start getting back into shape and is a quicker way to retrieve your previous figure or achieve the shape you’ve always wanted. Your goal is just an appointment away, call for a consultation to get started!

Constable: Weymouth Bay: Difficulty with Landscapes :: essays papers

Constable: Weymouth Bay: Difficulty with Landscapes John Constable was born into a wealthy family in the English countryside. It was originally suspected that he would take over his father’s buisness because his older brother was mentally handicapped. However as his interest in painting grew his mother realized that this was a course he was choosing and he was good enough to pursue. Ironically when Constable turned to landscapes, his mother worried about his finances and urged him to turn to portraiture. In his lifetime Constable rarely sold any paintings despite being inducted into the Royal Academy of Art. Constable has talent, yes, absolutely. I could never capture his landscapes and ‘Weymouth Bay’ is a gorgeous recreation of what Constable saw. It is not an idealized version it is exactly as he saw it. This is where my problem with landscapes begins. I cannot find myself excited by them. It has taken me weeks of procrastination about how to write this paper. ‘Weymouth Bay’ was painted by Constable during his honeymoon in 1816. The scene is Dorset. There is another version of this painting in the Louvre. I think that the painting is easy on the eye. It would have been simpler to write about a Turner because his work in my opinion contains pieces of originality that Constable fails to achieve. His work is straight forward, an almost perfect recreation of exactly what Constable saw. Experts believe that the view in ‘Weymouth Bay’ is from an angle towards the west; west of Redcliff Point. It is a barren picture, the land is empty, cold. If landscape instills feeling of environment, Constable achieves that. When the painting was exhibited at the British Institution in 1819 the New Monthly Magazine wrote that the painting was, â€Å"a clear, well-colored picture.† To this description, yay. I do not aspire to be a critic of art and even now as I type this paper, I find myself increasingly nervous to the hail of criticism I’m opening myself up to. However, as I wandered through the halls of the National Gallery the urge to challenge myself and write about something that caught my eye because of the simplicity of it not because it was thought provoking was too much. Simple is not a bad thing. However if all art was simple it would in my opinion cease to be relevant. But would Constable be a relevant painter today?

Michelin Co. Ltd.

The Michelin Tyre Company Ltd, incorporated in 1905, was set up in 1889 by two brothers, Andre and Edouard Michelin. Now active in more than 170 countries, Michelin operates across all continents of the world, manufacturing and selling tyres for all kinds of vehicles, publishing maps and guides, and operating Specialist digital services. Most people recognize our world famous mascot, Bibendum, ‘The Michelin man', looking good considering his age! My own division is concerned with tyres made for heavy goods vehicles over 3. 5tonnes, including trucks, coaches, and buses. In the UK and the Republic of Ireland, we have an extensive sales force supporting thousands of tyre distributors, from tyres used in cars and trucks, to those used in specialist industrial and earthmoving equipment. To conduct environmental scanning, we adopt several approaches. We use joint panels with key national and regional trade journals, conducting telephone questionnaires with customers on challenges, issues, and developments in the haulage industry. Our sales Force in the UK and Ireland is responsible for collecting market intelligence, especially on competitors' actions and products. We work with the Road Haulage Association and the Freight Transport Association, which offers us a chance to mix with customers in a non-selling environment, and we belong to the Euro Pool organization, an independent body which acts on behalf of all European tyre manufacturers. Here, we declare our sales on a monthly basis and they send back to us details of our market share. In addition, we conduct our own annual surveys with distribution partners (including ATS Euro master-a Michelin group company-and independent tyre dealers). We use the results of these surveys to track industry market shares with sales revenues. Finally, we analyse and test competitor’s tyre products at our research and development centre. Our scanning activity has picked up lots of challenges, for example rising fuel costs, changes in haulage' patterns due to an increase in internet shopping, new legislation around driving and emission standards, and changing patterns of labour with the increase in Eastern European drivers (often bringing with them their cheaper fuel). However, the biggest challenge that we have experienced in the last 4 or 5 years is the strong competition from cheap imported tyre manufacturers from emerging economies in the east, including India, China, and Korea. These new tyre brands sell very cheaply because of the low manufacturing and labour costs in these countries. Although we knew these brands were coming, we were very surprised by how rapidly customers adopted them. 1. What environmental challenges are faced by Michelin? 2. What are the options with Michelin to handle the situation? Chocolate Bars Food and beverage companies, like their fast food counterparts, are facing increasing pressure from governments as child obesity rates increase in major Western nations. In England, obesity in children under 11 has risen from 9. 9% in 1995 to 13. % in 2003 according to figures outlined in the Health Survey for England (1995-2003). Governments are beginning to scrutinize their public health policies. The British government's 2004 White Paper on Public Health sets out how government will work across departments, with industry and other stakeholders, to support healthier life choices for citizens with specific requirements that food and beverage industry companies will: †¢ Provide people with clearer information on labels about food ingredients so as to allow consumers to make their own choices about what they consume. Promote healthy eating and drinking lifestyles. †¢ Improve the nutritional quality of food products generally. †¢ Restrict certain food, alcohol, and tobacco marketing and promotion to protect Children and young people's health through self-regulation or face some form of government legislation. The chocolate confectionery business is a target for the government as it attempts to wean kids off chocolate snacks at schools and tries to introduce them to apples and oranges instead. The chocolate market in Great Britain, dominated by the trinity of chocolate makers Cadbury Schweppes, Mars Inc. (which trades as Master Foods Europe in Europe), and Nestle. The total market has grown only slightly, by around 1% between 2004 and 2005, with some of the major brands' sales falling by as much as 24% (e. g. Kit Kat). Nevertheless, Britain does seem to have a love affair with chocolate. The question is whether or not it expands our waistlines. 1. What environmental factors are impacting chocolate business in UK? 2. How would you respond in such a situation?

Macbeth: The Role of Gender and Position Essay

In Macbeth, many elements that affect the story’s plot and outcome; however, gender and position of power play the most important role of the story. For example, Lady Macbeth continuously wants to be changed into a man in order to get certain duties done that Macbeth is hesitant to do. Also, Lady Macbeth uses the power of belittling Macbeth’s masculinity to further drive his actions in the play. Lastly, the witches’ predictions of Macbeth’s future affect and change him through the position of power he will soon possess. Overall, many aspects of the play foreshadow and affect the ending of the play; however, sex (gender) and power have the biggest impact. Throughout the course of the play, Lady Macbeth constantly exerts the fact that she does not want to be a female. Lady Macbeth wants to be changed into a man because she would hold more power, and be able to escape the stereotypes associated with being a female. Such stereotypes include, not being capable to do certain activities men can, being fragile, and having a frail attitude about oneself. One example of Lady Macbeth wanting to become a male is when she states â€Å"Come, you spirits that tend on mortal thoughts, unsex me here . . .† (Shakespeare 33) Lady Macbeth’s statement implies the obvious, which is, due to her being a female she is unable to murder Duncan (aside from his resemblance to her father) and wants to be â€Å"unsexed†. Another example of Lady Macbeth despising being a female is when she states â€Å"That no compunctious visitings of nature shake my fell purpose, nor keep peace between th’ effect and it,† (Shakespeare 33). Lady Macbeth’s statement basically states that she wants to be ridden of the â€Å"visitings of nature† because they distract her from her purpose and goal. Lady Macbeth’s gender affects her role in her husband’s life, and she despises the fact. Lady Macbeth continuously despises being a female. In Macbeth, Lady Macbeth constantly manipulates her husband Macbeth by testing his masculinity. In order to manipulate Macbeth and get him to do certain actions, Lady Macbeth simply makes comments testing his masculinity such as â€Å"When you durst do it, then you were a man . . .† (Shakespeare 43). In the passage, Lady Macbeth convinces Macbeth to kill Duncan because the murder will prove himself being a man. Lady Macbeth constantly uses Macbeth being a male against him. Mark Lugris states â€Å"Influenced by his wife, Lady Macbeth, the general kills the reigning King and steals the throne,† (Lugris). Lugris’ statement best explains the reason Macbeth murders Duncan. Without his wife’s influence, Macbeth probably wouldn’t have killed Duncan. Mahatma Gandhi states â€Å"Man’s nature is not essentially evil. Brute nature has been known to yield to the influence of love. You must never despair of human nature,† (Gandhi). Gandhi’s statement applies to Macbeth’s situation because, like the quote states, Macbeth is not essentially evil; however, his love for his wife influences his decisions; furthermore, the only reason Lady Macbeth has influence on Macbeth is because of her constant testing of his manhood. Lady Macbeth is able to have influence on Macbeth and his decisions because she uses his manhood against him. Throughout the play Macbeth, Macbeth’s attitudes and goals change all because of his strive for power. At the beginning of the play, Macbeth is loyal, and trustworthy. Towards the end of the play, however, Macbeth is power-hungry, delusional, and disloyal. Macbeth states â€Å"I know I am thane of Glamis, but how of Cawdor?† (Shakespeare 19). At the moment when Macbeth makes his comment doesn’t believe the witches’ predictions because he is loyal to Duncan and would never kill him; however, Macbeth ends up committing the murder of Duncan because of his crave for power. Macbeth eventually lets his new position of power get to his head and orders for Banquo, who was once his best friend, to be killed. After Banquo is murdered, Macbeth tells the murderers â€Å"Thanks for that. There the serpent lies,† (Shakespeare 101). Macbeth’s statement shows the fact that he only cares about himself. Abraham Lincoln states â€Å"Nearly all men can stand adversity, but if you want to test a man’s character, give him power,† (Lincoln). Lincoln’s statement applies to Macbeth because Macbeth is only corrupt when given power. Also, Jimmy Hendrix states â€Å"When the power of love overcomes the love of power, the world will know peace,† (Hendrix). Jimmy’s statement demonstrates Macbeth because if Macbeth would have chosen his love for his friends and family, he wouldn’t have become corrupted by his power. Lastly, the young siward states â€Å"The devil himself could not pronounce a title more hateful to mine ear,† (Shakespeare 183). The Young Siward’s comment is a realization in the play because towards the end of Macbeth, Macbeth has built a bad reputation for himself. He was noble and just in the beginning, but now, people are fearful and hateful towards him. Macbeth has now become a tyrant due to his position of power. Overall, power greatly influences the play Macbeth. Throughout the play Macbeth, the fact is vividly clear that many themes and ideas play a role in the outcome; furthermore, the most influential factors of the play are gender, and position of power. The factors, gender and power, evolve into conflicts amongst the characters. Such conflicts include, Macbeth killing Banquo, and Lady Macbeth influencing Macbeth. Gender and power are the key elements of the play.

buy custom Mittle Electronics essay

buy custom Mittle Electronics essay The profit making organization works toward making profit and winning the competition against the organizations which provide the same products in the market. The main aim of business is to benefit and expand its products in the market, and this is achieved by marketing and taking business positively. The managers of each business make sure the set goal and target of each year are achieved, and when they fail to do that they reorganize and formulate new strategies. There are some employees who promote the business and make it more profitable by sales promotion. In case with Mittle Electronics, Brain Abernathy has increased companys sales and income to a great extent. Due to him, the companys yearly account was $27 M. This showed that the strategies he applied could help the business to grow. Analysis Brain had outstanding clients who promoted the business by making large sales and after his death Kimberly Rowland replaced him as a new sales representative of the company. Kimberly should handle all the duties of the sales representative agent. She should work to promote the sales and keep the name of the company safe before the public. Brain did business which brought favorable results as he contacted illegal affairs with some clients in order to achieve outstanding results. Kimberly should ensure that she protects the name of the company and keep clients trust. She should also do everything possible to retain prominent clients in the business. My role as a sales manager is to promote the business and ensure that the company has made more sales and achieved the target. The income from the business was $27 M, however, taking into account the depreciation this result can be termed as a failure. The work as a sales manager is to make sure that the returns does ot go below the target level set by Brain (Raymond, 2003). Kimberly does not want to work like Brain and that is why she has asked about Anwar, an outstanding customer who worked with Brain. Kimberley should put efforts and ensure that the business target retains should remain the same. The sales of the electronics must be fixed and customers should get discounts in order to keep buying from the company because many people prefer working with a certain individual and if they do not find Brain they may quit or address to another company. The provision of discounts to the outstanding customer will make them to remain loyal to the company instead of liking Brain. Then, Kimberly will befriend the entire client base who has worked with Brain to have them trust her as they have trusted him (Michel, 2008). It is a well known fact that the customer is always right in business and should get full respect since he provides employment for a number of managers, directors and other companys employees. The company will not have money to keep going without the customer. The latter buys products and makes the business generate the money by investing and developing the business and increasing the profit. Basing argument for this concern of how to keep Anwar is to give him full respect even if what they did with Brain was unethical. This may be achieved by listening to his demands and showing him other means of doing business if applicable. Anwar has trusted the company and has exposed all what they did to Brain. This can prove that they contacted business with trust. The openness of Anwar means that he will respond to whatever the company tells him since he wants to make more money and continue developing the business (Raymond, 2003). The best way to handle Anwar is to ask Kimberley to talk to Anwar in a polite and careful manner, sinnce she represents the company as a sales manager and holds the same post as Brain. Anwar has a perception that doing business in an unethical way brings more money and income, but he only supports this idea as nobody has told him that clean business can bring the same amount of money. Kimberly will explain to Anwar the approaches of contacting business and make sure that he understands that getting into such an unclean business can bring trouble to an individual and the company. Handling Anwar with respect and polite way will make him change and accept the manner of carrying out the clean business in the right way and will be aware of the mistakes which have been made while cooperating with Brain. On the other hand, if he refuses to do clean business we will have to find another client to replace him because if the unclean business is exposed, the company loses all the clients and tr ust of the public (Michel, 2008). Kimberley will be reporting on the work on a daily basis and describe all the actions taken concerning what she has done and the type of customers she has approached. This will make her do clean business and not to get tempted to follow Brains strategies. All the clients will operate directly from the head office, and they will get their products issued by the company with a receipt and rubberstamp. A special commission will be created that is to control her actions and financial stability to prevent her from adopting unclean business (Waymack, 1990). Conclusion Many people who engage themselves in a corrupt business get a lot of income in return, but the business collapses at a time. It does not last long enough to benefit from it. The time comes when the truth exposes and all customers quit. The best way to succeed in business is to have open relationships with customers and public. Buy custom Mittle Electronics essay

Suppletion Definition and Examples in English Grammar

Suppletion Definition and Examples in English Grammar In morphology, suppletion is the use of two or more phonetically distinct roots for different forms of the same word, such as the adjective bad and its suppletive comparative form worse. Adjective: suppletive. According to  Peter O. Mà ¼ller et al., the term strong  suppletion is  used where the allomorphs are highly dissimilar and/or have different etymological origins, as in the adjective forms good and best. We speak of weak suppletion if some similarity is discernible, as in the words five and fifth (Word-Formation: An International Handbook of the Languages of Europe, 2015). Examples and Observations Bad - worse is a case of suppletion. Worse is clearly semantically related to bad in exactly the same way as, for example, larger is related to large, but there is no morphological relationship between the two words, i.e. there is no phonetic similarity between them.(J.R. Hurford et al., Semantics: A Coursebook, 2nd ed. Cambridge University Press, 2007)Suppletion is said to take place when the syntax requires a form of a lexeme that is not morphologically predictable. In English, the paradigm for the verb be is characterized by suppletion. Am, are, is, was, were, and be have completely different phonological shapes, and they are not predictable on the basis of the paradigms of other English verbs. We also find suppletion with pronouns. Compare I and me or she and her. Suppletion is most likely to be found in the paradigms of high-frequency words. . ..(Mark Aronoff and Kirsten Fudeman, What Is Morphology? 2nd ed. Wiley-Blackwell, 2011) Good, Better, Best The forms good, better and best, which belong to the adjective good . . . show suppletion since the relationship between the morphs representing the root morpheme is phonologically arbitrary. It would plainly make no sense to claim that there is a single underlying representation in the dictionary from which go and went or good and better are derived. The best we can do is to content ourselves with listing these allomorphs together under the same entry in the dictionary. (Francis Katamba, English Words, 2nd ed. Routledge, 2005) Origins of the Forms of Be and Go The Old English verb for be, like its Modern English counterpart, combined forms of what were originally four different verbs (seen in the present-day forms be, am, are, was). Paradigms that thus combine historically unrelated forms are called suppletive.Another suppletive verb is gan go, whose preterit eode was doubtless from the same Indo-European root as the Latin verb eo go. Modern English has lost the eode preterit but has found a new suppletive form for go in went, the irregular preterit of wend (compare send-sent). (John Algeo and Thomas Pyles, The Origins and Development of the English Language, 5th ed. Thomson Wadsworth, 2005). Origin of the Term  Suppletion in Linguistics The term suppletion gradually makes its way into grammatical descriptions and other linguistic works in the late 19th century (Osthoff 1899; Thomas 1899:79). In grammars it was probably triggered by the preceding notion of a defective paradigm; e.g. if a verb lacks a form in a certain category, it is supplied by some other verb.In linguistic theory of the 20th century, suppletion came to be fully established as a concept with the advent of structuralism, where the relation between form and meaning as well as the understanding of paradigmatic relationships became very important for a synchronic language description. (Ljuba N. Veselinova, Suppletion in Verb Paradigms: Bits and Pieces of the Puzzle. John Benjamins, 2006) Etymology From the Latin, to supply, make up a whole Pronunciation: se-PLEE-shen

Follow-Up to Concept Analysis Reports Assignment

Follow-Up to Concept Analysis Reports - Assignment Example The paper identifies three related concepts of Patrimonialism, and they are Neo-Patrimonialism, Corporatism, and Clientelism. In defining Neo-Patrimonialism, the paper takes the stand of Bach and Mammadou (2012). The two authors define it as a concept whereby a ruler mismanages the resources of a state, for purposes of acquiring power, and maintaining it (Bach and Mammadou, 2012). The initial paper defines Clientelism as an art of exchanging non-financial and financial benefits, for purposes of maintaining power. Corporatism refers to a situation where there are groups within a state, and they compete to gain favor from the ruler. In highlighting the Similarities of patrimonialism in Vietnam and Morocco, the paper observed that Patrimonialism in the two countries take place through the systems of governance. The paper stated that the system of governance in Morocco is through a monarch, while in Vietnam, it is through the Presidency. Patrimonialism thrives in these states because they have weak governance institutions, and it is easy to manipulate the holders of these institutional officers to serve the purposes of a ruler. Another similarity emanates from the motives of the Moroccan monarch, and Vietnam Presidents to engage in Patrimonialism. The two do so for purposes of maintaining power, and authority. A difference emanates from the objectives for which the leaders of the two states practice the policy. In Vietnam, the communist party practices the policy to promote socialism, and maintain unity in the country (Clapham, 1985). In Morocco, the Monarch practices the policy to maintain power, and for selfish gains. Another difference emanates at how the two countries implement the policy of Patrimonialism. In Morocco, the Monarch practices the policy by forming tribal groups, therefore creating divisions in the society (Bach and Mammadou, 2012). In Vietnam, the policy is practiced in such a way that it unites
